Roster Moves
In here, I will post whatever roster moves the Phillies make such as call-ups and so forth, just so people can keep track of them.
So, first

JA Happ has been sent down as he will not make another start before the break. He could be back up after, but we'll see.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies have optioned pitcher J.A. Happ to Triple-A Lehigh Valley for the All-Star break.
Happ, who started Wednesday's game against St. Louis, won't get another start before next week's break and the Phillies filled the vacant roster spot by bringing up infielder Mike Cervenak from Lehigh Valley.
In two starts this season, Happ has not recorded a decision but has pitched to an earned run average of 3.27 by allowing just four runs and eight hits in 11 innings. He yielded two runs on five hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Cervenak has never appeared in a big league game. In 90 games with Lehigh Valley, he was batting .310 with seven homers and 52 runs batted in.

Re: Roster Moves
I kinda understand this move but Happ has done a better than expected job in his two starts....I just hope that this doesn't screw him up mentally.....

Re: Roster Moves
I think Happ was probably explained why they did it. I cannot see them not giving Happ a shot with Eaton in the rotation.
Re: Roster Moves
I'm sure they did but he has showed so toughness and I really hope he doesn't come back pitching "scared"....that is not what the Phils need....

Re: Roster Moves
By the way....is it just me or do the Phils always fine someone in the minors that comes up and does a decent job.....ie. Mathieson,Kendrick,Happ (ok they are the only ones Ican come up with on the top of my head)

When Myers and Madson were starting out, they did well too. It's not just you.

Eh, Hamels has been their only star for awhile.

Re: Roster Moves
It is hard to see when they're going to call him up.
I mean Carrasco is decent, but he's honestly nothing more than a #3 starter or worse. He's not an out of this world pitching prospect that every other team seems to have somewhere.
He's not exactly lighting it up in AA right now either. Sure, we've heard about him for awhile, but I think he's at least another year or two away from being anything special (still only 21).
He's 5-7 with a 4.09 ERA this year with a WHIP of 1.39. 39BB/99K. So his numbers aren't anything special and I don't think the Phillies see much out of him right now.

Re: Roster Moves
true his stats dont set the world on fire, but one cant help but think that he could give a better outing every five days than eaton...but then again who couldnt?

True, but they'll goto Happ and Myers first. If Carrasco is going to be good, you don't want to force him. I'm sure he's on a innings limit anyway.
Re: Roster Moves
If Myers is sane then I wouldn't mind seeing him and Happ in the rotation again. Until Myers can find his own 2 feet then we will have to love with Eaton or God forbid if we get Burnett.

Burnett is looking good today, but he is definitely going to be costly for an average pitcher.
Carrasco did alright in the futures game today. Also, Golson and Donald each had a hit.

Re: Roster Moves

Re: Roster Moves
that was the pitch who couldn't throw for strikes all along, so he didn't learn haha.
Re: Roster Moves
Carrasco promoted to AAA.
Seanez to the DL. Phillies called up some lefty scrub to replace him.

Re: Roster Moves
Not surprised seeing Seanez DL'ed.
